Invitation to Taylor & Francis Training Sessions

We invite researchers to attend training sessions delivered by representatives of the Taylor & Francis. The webinars are free of charge, conducted in English, and require advance registration.

Ethics Focus: Plagiarism

Date: 10 September 2025, 13:00–14:30 (Lithuanian time)
Speaker: Didi Peng

About the webinar: A researcher’s career is built on their ideas and contributions to the scholarly record. Therefore, giving proper credit to the original source or creator is vital in academic publishing. When this principle is violated, plagiarism occurs, which may have serious consequences. Plagiarism is one of the most common forms of research misconduct and can take many different shapes. Yet, there is no single global definition of plagiarism, leaving researchers and authors uncertain about what counts as plagiarism versus what is acceptable similarity under publishing ethics standards. This is particularly relevant in cases of text recycling (self-plagiarism), when researchers reuse their own previous work. This session will cover: how plagiarism is defined in Taylor & Francis journals and the most common types encountered; where plagiarism is not considered to occur and what the “grey areas” are (e.g. text recycling); how plagiarism is detected and what happens when it is found; practical tips on how to avoid plagiarism and the importance of correct citation practices.
