October 20–26: International Open Access Week

October 20–26, 2025, marks International Open Access Week worldwide. This global initiative promotes free and open access to scientific knowledge, research results, and academic resources. Open Access Week serves as a reminder that science and research outcomes should be accessible to everyone, as openness in science fosters progress, innovation, and stronger communities.

This year’s theme, “Who Owns Our Knowledge?”, invites us to reflect on how knowledge is collected, shared, and used, and how it can be ensured that knowledge truly serves society as a whole. The theme is especially relevant today, as technological advances open new opportunities while also bringing new challenges.

Open Access Week offers not only an opportunity to learn more about open access principles, but also to take part in events, discussions, and activities that encourage sharing knowledge without barriers.
