We invite readers to explore the newly released first issue of the 2025 journal “Applied Research”. This issue presents thirteen publications in the fields of humanities, social sciences, technology, natural sciences, and agricultural sciences, offering insights into current scientific research topics and providing knowledge and inspiration.
What topics are of interest to researchers today?
An overview of the published articles suggests that scientific research is being influenced, directly or indirectly, by global developments—particularly the ongoing war in Ukraine, now in its third year. One quarter of the articles in this issue are devoted to the analysis of the social and humanitarian consequences, impacts, and trends related to the war. The studies seek to determine the extent and types of social support provided to war refugees, which services are used by Ukrainians, and which are least necessary; the challenges faced by guardianship coordinators working with refugee children and the skills they may lack; the modern forms of artistic expression that Ukrainian literature has adopted under the influence of Russian aggression and how these have spread globally.
Topics of sustainability and ecology remain highly relevant in scientific research. These are examined from both theoretical and practical perspectives, including an overview of sustainability standards implemented in the European Union, an assessment of river ecological conditions, and an analysis of the application of innovative textile materials in future fashion.
Digital technologies have also received attention. One article explores the possibilities of using artificial intelligence tools in image construction, while another investigates the application of a mobile sound measurement app in the study of transport noise levels.
Educational topics remain significant, covering adult education and tools promoting digital inclusion, experiences and possibilities of applying supervision in preschool education, and the use of escape rooms as a method to increase student motivation.
Researchers in the humanities have analyzed final theses by students of pre-school and early childhood education, aiming to assess their ability to correctly formulate titles. In the field of agriculture, researchers sought to improve the quality and yield of cucumbers through the use of additional tools and means, such as Hortiled-type lamps.
The topics presented are diverse and engaging, encouraging both the continuation of existing research and the initiation of new studies. In cases where research has already been completed, there is an opportunity to share its findings.
Submissions are welcome for future issues of the journal Applied Research.
