Exhibition of Paintings by Students of the KK MUF MA“Fragments of Stories”

We invite you to visit the exhibition “Fragments of Stories” showcasing the works of students from the Academy of Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija HEI, currently on display on the second floor of the library. The artworks were created during practical classes, which are an essential part of training future conservators. Before starting the copying process, students conducted in-depth art historical research, examining the authors of selected paintings, their stylistic features, and the context in which the works were created. This allowed them not only to accurately replicate the artistic expression but also to delve deeper into the concept and story behind each piece. Such experience is especially valuable for a conservator – to restore a work of art, one must understand and feel it from within.

Each student was assigned a specific work individually – selected based on their personality, skills, and artistic intuition. All students received the same task: to choose one fragment of a painting and reproduce it as precisely as possible. This is not only a technical but also a creative challenge that encourages analysis, interpretation, and artistic growth. The works exhibited reflect how thorough research, a deep interest in artistic material, and practical experience merge into a holistic process that shapes future professional conservators of artworks.

Alongside each student’s work, visitors will also find photographs by Martynas Jurgutis, Media Projects Coordinator at Kauno kolegija HEI, depicting the original paintings. These photos help viewers understand the close relationship between the conservator’s perspective and the artist’s original intent, as well as the sensitivity and professionalism inherent in this field.
