We invite you to the solo exhibition “From Form to Function” by Monika Imbrasaitė, a graduate of the Academy of Arts, Faculty of Arts and Education at Kauno kolegija, exhibited at the library of Kauno kolegija Alytus Faculty.
Creating leather accessories is a field of applied arts that combines mastery, creativity, and skilled leather processing techniques. Monika Imbrasaitė, a graduate of the Academy of Arts at Kauno kolegija, mastered four specializations in the Object Art study program—leather, glass, ceramics, and textiles—and has long desired to explore new areas. This ambition led her to incorporate an element of different materiality, wood, into her leather creations.
Inspired by the work of artists specializing in wood, Imbrasaitė conceived the idea of merging these two natural materials to create unique, functional pieces rooted in elegance and femininity.
In her solo exhibition, “From Form to Function,” the artist unites the organic allure of leather with the subtlety of wood. Each piece on display demonstrates how these two materials harmonize with one another. The young artist’s aesthetic choices blur the boundaries between art and functionality. Her creations invite a closer exploration of these materials within contemporary fashion, emphasizing how the intersection of tradition and modernity can result in a functional object.
Whether a fashion enthusiast or simply an admirer of creative innovation, visitors to this exhibition will find themselves transported beyond conventional standards of art and fashion, inspired by the synthesis of leather and wood.
