Welcome to the third edition of the peer-reviewed scientific journal “Applied Research in Lithuanian Colleges” (ISSN 1822-1068, eISSN 2335-8904), which was launched in 2004 and published once a year. Since 2021, the journal has been published twice a year. For some time, the publication of the journal was financed by the state budget, but recently it has been financed only by Kauno kolegija. It is a multidisciplinary scientific journal publishing original scientific articles in the fields of social, natural, agricultural, medical and health sciences, technology and humanities. The articles are mostly published in Lithuanian or English.
The journal complies with international requirements for scientific publishing, and the quality and internationalisation of the journal have been pursued throughout the publishing period. The journal’s editorial board is composed of Lithuanian and foreign scientists, and since 2014 at least half of the editorial board members are from foreign academic institutions. Dr Vaclovas Makūnas has been the long-standing Editor-in-Chief of the journal, and Dr Lina Šarlauskienė, Head of the Centre for Library and Scholarly Communication, has been elected Editor-in-Chief since 2023.
The dissemination of information and articles is crucial for the success of a scientific journal. Issues of the journal have been published in print until 2023 and online since 2014, using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) system. From the second issue of the journal in 2023, the journal’s articles are published only in electronic format. The journal has always been open access since it was launched online, and has recently become a Diamond Open Access Journal. Scientific articles are published free of charge.
The quality of the journal’s publishing is reflected in its registration in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) (doaj.org) in 2018. From 2018 to the present, full-text journal articles are indexed in the registry. From 2023 onwards, journal articles have been assigned Digital Object Identifiers, i.e. DOI numbers. The DOI number is important for searching and citing a scientific article. Articles with DOIs can be found in the Crossref search engine (search.crossref.org).
All articles in the journal are also registered in the eLABa publications database and the Lithuanian Research Council’s Vieversys database. As the journal articles are registered and indexed in the databases, they can be easily found in the scientific information search engine Scholar Google, as well as in the Kauno kolegija Virtual Library and eLABa Virtual Library.
Currently, the quality and dissemination of the scientific journal is taken care of by the staff of Kauno kolegija Library and Scientific Communication Centre: the editor-in-chief of the journal Dr. Lina Šarlauskienė, the secretary-in-chief Dr. Dalė Šumskienė, layout of articles is done by the librarian for communication Gytis Baltrušaitis, the articles are published and registered in databases by the senior librarian for scientific information Ramunė Bernotė. Research articles are also reviewed by Kauno kolegija language editors. The Turnitin text matching tool is used to prevent plagiarism.
Detailed information about the journal and its archive of articles can be found on the Kauno kolegija OJS website (ojs.kaunokolegija.lt/index.php/mttlk). During 20 years of scientific publishing, 482 scientific articles have been published in the journal “Applied Research in Lithuanian Colleges”. In the future, the publishing of this scientific journal may change, but it has significantly contributed to the dissemination of research results, development of scientific competences of researchers and successful evaluation of scientific results of Kauno kolegija.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the journal, we invite you to a consultation day dedicated exclusively to the journal on 11 October at the Library (Room 207). During the consultation day, researchers are invited to come and ask any questions they may have regarding the publication of articles in “Applied Research in Lithuanian Colleges”.
Please note that you can consult the publication of articles in the journal at any time by sending e-mails to zurnalas.mttlk@go.kauko.lt, by contacting the journal’s responsible secretary Dr. Dale Šumskienė at dale.sumskiene@go.kauko.lt, or by coming to the library at Pramonės pr. 22A, Room 207.
